Stay at one of Many Flagstaff Hotels and Experience the Amazing Oak Creek Canyon

Flagstaff, Arizona is home to some pretty amazing sights and historic sites and, of course, plenty of Flagstaff hotels, but one of the most beautiful year-round attractions located just south of Flagstaff is a river gorge called Oak Creek Canyon. The Oak Creek Canyon-Sedona area is the second most popular tourist destination in Arizona, second only to the Grand Canyon. You will find this lovely area located just south of Flagstaff on State Rt. 89A.

Oak Creek Canyon is roughly 12 miles long and ranges in width from 0.8 to 2.5 miles. The depth of the canyon ranges from 800-2,000 feet.  As the road descends it takes you through an absolutely breathtaking series of switchbacks into a scenic, smaller cousin of the Grand Canyon. This is one attraction you will not want to miss. Known for colorful rocks and unique formations, Oak Creek Canyon is world-famous for its impressive scenery.

Before you make your way into the canyon you’ll want to stop at Oak Creek Canyon Vista where you can get a fantastic view of what the canyon has to offer. Here you’ll also find all kinds of Native American arts and crafts for sale by local artisans – it’s a great way to get some of the local flavor of northern Arizona.

Once you’ve taken a nice, long look at the scenery, it’s time to make your way down the switchbacks.  Be sure to drive slowly and carefully as U. S. Highway 89A winds a lazy course down the length of Oak Creek Canyon. Many visitors take in the beautiful scenery from the comfort of their car, but there are many overlooks, picnic areas, swimming holes and hiking trails where you can stop to get a better look at the canyon’s red-rock cliffs and crystal pools. And, there’s a vista point at Midgely Bridge that features a particularly beautiful backdrop for pictures.

As you head out of Oak Creek Canyon, keep your eyes peeled for some of Sedona’s famous red rock formations including Coffee Pot Rock, Steam Boat Rock, Courthouse Butte, Bell Rock and many more. And the fun doesn’t end here because you can easily continue down this scenic route to Interstate 17 and then back to your one of the many hotels in Flagstaff, Arizona.

The most ancient colonial era styled complex that still survives in Hong Kong is the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware. The complex for an extended period of time was used as the dwelling place of the Commander of the British Armed forces that resided in Hong Kong.

In earlier times Flagstaff House was named Headquarter House previous to 1932. The architect who designed the complex at the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware is a highly argued topic. Most the experts believe either Murdoch Bruce or Lieutenant Bernard Collinson were responsible for the architectural work of the complex. The structure comprises of a Greek revival style. The creation of the complex was finished in 1846. The first person to live at the Flagstaff House was Major General George Charles D’Aguilar.

The Flagstaff House was converted into the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware in 1984. This became a branch of the Hong Kong Museum of Art. The museum examines, accumulates and showcases tea ware. The world’s most ancient teapot that exists as of now can be found at the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware. A new section was added to the museum in the year 1995 and is called the K.S. Lo Gallery. A stay at a Kowloon hotel while in the area would be recommended. A good Hong Kong hotel to stay would be the Eaton Hotel Hong Kong.
