Good Story (Especially If You Know Flagstaff), June 8, 2004

This review is from: Theme Town: A Geography of Landscape and Community in Flagstaff, Arizona (Paperback)

The author is a local geography professor and has a keen interest in Flagstaff history. Theme Town hits the highlights of the town’s historic development and railroad culture.

The book is an easy read, and serves as a local history book, a geography text, and an brief overview to human settlement. While the intent to mix all three in one volume is noble, a professional editor may have tightened the book’s “jump-between-subjects” format.

It’s a great read for someone looking for an alternative history lesson of Flagstaff, but will make most sense to those who live there. It’s well worth the money for a Sunday afternoon read.
